Introducing Myself
Who I Am
Hello, I’m Laura.
I’m an interfaith minister, clinical paramedic specialist in a hospice, former front line paramedic, amateur performer, former semi-professional singer, lover of musicals, Doctor Who enthusiast, and lifelong collector of fascinating questions and random facts.
At heart, I’m someone who has always been curious about people. What makes us who we are? What gives life meaning? How do we cope with love, loss, joy, grief, hope and change? Those questions have shaped both my professional life and my spiritual journey.
For eighteen years I worked for the London Ambulance Service, caring for people during some of the most difficult, frightening and life-changing moments they would ever experience. It was a role that taught me resilience, humility and the extraordinary strength that ordinary people possess. It also taught me that compassion is rarelyabout having the perfect words; often it’s simply about showing up and being present.
Today I work in hospice care, supporting people and families through some of life’s most significant transitions. It is a privilege to walk alongside people at such important moments, helping them find comfort, dignity and meaning in whatever way is right for them.
My spiritual path has been every bit as exciting as my career. I grew up with Christianity in the background, spent many years exploring pagan and alternative spiritual traditions, trained as an interfaith minister with OneSpirit, and eventually found my way back to the Christian faith of my childhood. Looking back, it feels less like changing direction and more like following a winding path towards home.
My interfaith background remains an important part of who I am. It taught me how to listen deeply, respect different perspectives, and recognise that every person’s spiritual story is unique. I believe we can remain rooted in our own faith whilst treating others with kindness, curiosity and respect.
Outside of work and ministry, you’ll usually find me enjoying musical theatre, reading something theological, watching Doctor Who, Firefly or something Disney, spending time with my husband Stuart, or being thoroughly ruled by a small collection of much-loved pet rats.
Whether you’ve arrived here looking for ministry, pastoral support, a celebrant, spiritual companionship, or simply out of curiosity, you are very welcome.
My promise is simple: I will meet you where you are. I will listen without judgement. I will respect your story. And I will do my best to help you feel seen, valued and supported.
After all, every one of us is trying to make sense of this remarkable thing called life..
